Early Spring: Jessie helping feed the bees to strengthen the new hive
before the nectar starts flowing in abundance from the flowers.
Some bees cleaning up comb that was removed from the hive.
As of today each hive continues to be active and growing.  The one on the left has consistently seemed a bit stronger.  We had an internal feeder in the hive when it was started (Jessie feeding above).  The two bottom supers will be food for the bees for the winter and the top ones if all goes well will be honey for us.

We forgot to explain to Samuel before hand that losing a tooth doesn't literally mean LOSING the tooth (his tooth was loose before supper and missing after)!!!

These are some pictures of our garden this year. Today we picked the garlic and there were 31 bulbs total.

Blueberry Picking / Barn Work

Monday was our annual blueberry picking day, in Pennsylvania. We picked 71 pounds but we still aren't quite sick of them.  We have a blueberry stand in front of our house and today I (Jessie) made blueberry muffins.

Grammie,
thanks for being such a special part of our annual tradition!

Last week we got the wood for the siding of the barn, and have put a few pieces up.

More barn pictures...

Last week I mowed the lawn with the riding mower for the first time.

We have been trying to come up with a name for our farm for a while now and still haven't decided on it; but for now it is the Murmur Creek Farm at least on our blog, named for the quaint stream behind our home.

This is our barn before and after the demolition of the north wing.
