Being Thankful (by Jessie)

There is ALWAYS something to be thankful for. Whether it be possessions, family and friends or just simply the gift of life! Thanksgiving is a day where we are reminded of the many, many things we have to be thankful. But what about being thankful on other days? For example Black Friday! What happened to our contentment and gratitude from just yesterday? It seems as though all of it is just gone as we rush around to try to get the best deals on whatever thing we think we need so bad! Well, anyway now I will show you how we celebrated our thankfulness.

Wednesday Evening we started preparations, I made the cranberry salad...

 Micaiah made pumpkin pie...

And Samuel peeled potatoes for the mashed potatoes.

Mom made sweet potato rolls.

On Thursday morning we ate cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

My mom also made the mashed potatoes and turkey.

My dad made the gravy and stuffing.

Samuel chose the leg of the turkey!
Thanks for reading and and remember to be thankful!

A Sibling TRIO Has Arisen! (by Jessie)

Big news! On this past wednesday Samuel has started violin! A couple of weeks ago, out of nowhere he told us he wanted to start playing, we immediately encouraged his decision and now he has had his first lesson. I am very proud to say that now we have a sibling trio (Me on violin, Micaiah on cello and Samuel on violin!)! I am looking forward to amazing times with my brothers on our instruments! Thanks mom and dad for all the support, time and encouragement you have given us for our music!

September Beginnings (by Jessie)

Our first day of school was on wednesday (9-3-14), which brought new surprises for all of us. I am entering high school, Micaiah is entering middle school, and Samuel is going into third grade. We have all survived the first week of school and are ready for new challenges!

Last time I posted about the bedrooms Micaiah's room had been painted, but Samuel's room had not. Now Micaiah's room is done! Trim and all! He does not have a finished bunk yet but other than that he is set. He even already has his legos fully installed!

Samuel's room, painted, floor stained, floor trim, but still lacking trim around the windows.

Thanks Pa and Mom for all your hard work!

Summer Update (by Jessie)

Wow! busy summer! Right after school ended the whole family took a two week trip to Alaska! It was so much fun! However the problem now is that sorting through all the pictures is a nightmare! So it might be awhile before we do an Alaska post. :( After Alaska I had a short week to catch up and then I went to a science camp at Clarkson University (also very fun). Immediately after that we all drove to Indiana to visit family. When we came home Micaiah and I went to Beaver camp for a week (awesome)! Now finally we are all home enjoying summer at home!

Here is a little update on the farm!... I took pictures of the three kids from a previous post and updated them so you can see the growth! One thing we learned while taking these pictures was that goats get harder to take pictures with as they get older (as you can probably see from the pictures)!

Me with Matisse before,
and now!

Micaiah with Pablo,
and now!

Samuel and Seneca,
and now! I find it funny that both times they got photo bombed!

Now we will move on to the garden!

The lower half of the garden this year is flourishing (most likely because of the use of goat fertilizer!)! Here you can see our super tall corn! (It's seriously over 7 feet tall!)

I believe we have butternut squash, cucumbers and cantaloupe here.

Cucumbers!

This is a path... in-between tomatillos and tomatoes!  This isn't a totally updated picture however because my mom has supported the plants since then!

These tomatoes aren't ripe yet but when they are they will be a deep purple!

Tomatillos!

More plants!

Next we have the string beans! This year we planted purple string beans! They are so pretty and yummy!

This was our first picking.

And this was our second (half a bushel)!

Now we'll talk about inside...
Upstairs we are working on remodeling the bedrooms, in the end my brothers and I should all have our own rooms! Micaiah's future room has been painted already, so right now we are working on getting (my old room) Samuel's future room ready to paint! Photo credit all to Samuel!

Here I am chipping sheet rock mud off of the floor.

Here Micaiah is wiping down the walls.
